Ian Sharples

Ian is the co-owner and Producer of Mob Film & TV group, and is a Producer, Executive Producer and Line Producer of feature films and TV programmes, both drama and factual.

Recent production credits include Daley (2024) the definitive documentary about decathlon legend Daley Thompson for Sky and The Man Who Invented Christmas, which was released pre Christmas 2017, featuring Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens and Directed by Bharat Nalluri, a truly international production shot entirely in Ireland with post production in Canada.

This followed closely behind previous US release, in May 2017, of documentary Cruel and Unusual about the Angola 3.

Prior to these two productions he Line Produced independent feature Breaking The Bank, a contemporary London set banking comedy starred Kelsey Grammer, Tamsin Greig and Directed by Vadim Jean.

Between 2005 and 2010 he produced and exec produced three mini series adaptations of the best selling Terry Pratchett Discworld novels for RHI (now Sonar) and Sky.  The first of which, Hogfather, when premiered in December 2006 was the most watched multi channel show of the year in the UK and the highest ever rated Sky drama commission.  Ian won a BAFTA for his work on the associated interactive marketing campaign.  Two further Discworld adaptations followed, The Colour of Magic and Going Postal, the latter winning two prestigious Royal Television Society Awards for Cinematography and Original Music.

Since 2018 he has also been heavily involved in increasing use of Virtual Production technology and 2D background plates on a vast array of international film and TV projects.
